Eddy

A lovely 7 year old grey gelding rescued less than one year ago.  He was alerted to us by a member of the public who reported him as having been left alone in a field with no food or water.  The owners refused to donate him, despite the fact he had no chance of surviving for much longer under their guardianship.  The charity purchased him for a sum in order to save his life.  Eddy is the only horse whereby charitable funds where expended in order to secure his custody.  He was scored 3 by an independent nutrionist (1 being total starvation) on the starvation scale when adopted.  Eddy is now ridden regularly and enjoys a very nice life as head of the pack.  Eddy needs to be exercised and ridden – and of course lots of cuddles.

Imran

A 3 year old male stallion.  He along with Goldie, a 7 year old mini pony, was dumped on us by their anonymous previous owners in September of this year.  As you will see from the photo, Imran was on deaths door – having been starved of water and food for almost one month.  He has various wounds, indicating he was beaten.  On a scale of 1 – 10 (1 being starvation and unlikely to live), Imran was scored 2 by a professional horse nutrionist.  Imran is currently being fed 7 times per day – in order to attempt to build him back up to his natural body weight.  Understandably anxious and nervous from his previous life experiences, Imran needs love and time in order to restore his confidence in humans once more.

Buddy

Buddy is a 7 year old stallion donkey.  For sure the loudest of the pack, he was rescued less than one year ago having had his feet tied together and neglected for a significant part of his life.  The charity reported his whereabouts to the police and we were given authorisation to take custody of him.  Initially petrified of humans and very shy, Buddy will often now be the first to seek your attention by pushing his soft velvet muzzle into your chest.  Buddy is not riden but loves to be groomed and occasionally walked outside on a lead – albeit you need to have muscle power for this – as he is seriously strong.

Goldie

Goldie is a 7 year old miniature pony.  He is the size of the dog and has the temperament of a naughty teenager.  He was dumped during the night onto the refuge by his unscrupulous owners.  He is absolutely stuning and loves people.  Despite having some evidence of beatings, he is surprisingly confident and peaceful.  Goldie needs some attention and discipline. Goldie was apparently won as a prize by a local resident and dumped one year later.
